Here is my long awaited Painter’s Profile article written by Susan Mynyk. I anticipated feeling all puffed up and proud when I finally saw the completed article but they, she and Linda Heller, the editor of PaintWorks, laid in surprises for me in the way of personal quotes from my family and friends. So instead of feeling “puffed up and proud” I feel humbled to know such wonderful people and to know all of them are part of my life. I must say I AM pleased to see my name on the cover, though – just a wee bit of puffing here! There are photos of my artwork, students and friends, and just sort of a story that combines my painting with my breast cancer journey, all in a very positive way. I also have an article written by me

This is my latest article in PaintWorks and features my “Everyday Calligraphy” technique with both ink and metal leafing. Look under the Calligraphy category over to the right to view a detailed step-by-step of the technique. In the next issue which is out now (I don’t have my copy as yet) I have another article using the calligraphy and pen and ink and my Texture Painting technique using modeling paste as my painting medium. I am also the featured artist in the Painter’s Profile column written by Susan Mynyk. You will be able to see more of my studio and more of my artwork. What fun for me!

My “art partner” SJ Jankauskas and I just had our first collaborative magazine article published in Glass Patterns Quarterly Spring 2009 issue. We did three fused glass panels featuring my tulip and the traditional way to use Unique’s Fired Glass Colors and his not so traditional way giving them a watercolor look. The panels represent a simple way to create, a bit more involved and a really involved version. We suggest they be framed as wall art or actually used as windows as they are structurally sound after fusing the two layers of glass into one strong layer.
