Tonight Jennifer and I will have our art work on display at the 1st Thursday Art Event at the Orlando Museum of Art. We are psyched! Here are our offerings – wish us luck! Mine is the glass – “Sunset at the Beach” and Jen’s is “Buttons Reborn.”

Here are more photos from my September 2008 Art Experience. Sandy Roberts, Miho Miyake and Sonja Lee Sindell all had a great time and created some beautiful art work. There is one of Harold, too, as he is making our great waffles on Sunday morning before we all get ready and go to see the Tiffany Museum, visit Old Time Pottery to learn about framing and then off to dinner before the “festivities” start on Monday morning.

Here is my long awaited Painter’s Profile article written by Susan Mynyk. I anticipated feeling all puffed up and proud when I finally saw the completed article but they, she and Linda Heller, the editor of PaintWorks, laid in surprises for me in the way of personal quotes from my family and friends. So instead of feeling “puffed up and proud” I feel humbled to know such wonderful people and to know all of them are part of my life. I must say I AM pleased to see my name on the cover, though – just a wee bit of puffing here! There are photos of my artwork, students and friends, and just sort of a story that combines my painting with my breast cancer journey, all in a very positive way. I also have an article written by me

This is my latest article in PaintWorks and features my “Everyday Calligraphy” technique with both ink and metal leafing. Look under the Calligraphy category over to the right to view a detailed step-by-step of the technique. In the next issue which is out now (I don’t have my copy as yet) I have another article using the calligraphy and pen and ink and my Texture Painting technique using modeling paste as my painting medium. I am also the featured artist in the Painter’s Profile column written by Susan Mynyk. You will be able to see more of my studio and more of my artwork. What fun for me!

As you can see I haven’t quite figured out how to line up these photos but you get the idea. Everyone used their inate creative abilities to “play in the glass” and a great time was had by all.

Each of their personalities came through with the intensity of their colors. They were also painting on an uneven surface – I wanted to add a bit of a challenge for them! All painting is done in acrylics.

Demonstrating my rose.

Here I am, hard at work showing students of the Tucson Decorative Painters Guild how to schieve the correct looks for the two techniques. I taught for their chapter in April. Mavis Bowes, Jo Clark, Marlene Fagan, Carolyn Quarnberg, Jackie Tanaka and Denise Sipos are watching me demonstrate the rose. Carolyn Quarnberg, Sherry Barnett, Mavis Bowes and Jackie Tanaka are watching me demonstrate the Faux Mother-of-Pearl technique. The third photo is of Sharyn Binam and Jo Clark showing off their roses. The whole chapter painted beautiful pieces and I was a very proud teacher that weekend!
